A key demand of the workers and complainants has been that the U.S. and Canadian governments request inter-governmental Ministerial Consultations. However, they are calling for these consultations to be followed by a review by an Evaluation Committee of Experts of occupational health and safety, forced labour, child labour and minimum wage violations. They are also calling for the establishment of a tri-national oversight committee to investigate and issue reports on alleged violations of NAALC principles concerning freedom of association and protection of the right to organize and bargain collectively. They are requesting that a public forum be convened in Puebla on the theme of freedom of association and the right of workers to receive union registrations under Mexican Federal Labour Law.
