On September 17, thousands of Cambodian garment workers took part in lunchtime protests organized by eight Cambodian unions at an estimated 139 factories around the country, demanding a $177 per month minimum wage. Internationally, the Global Unions, the North American garment workers’ union Workers United, the Clean Clothes Campaign and other labour rights organizations staged solidarity actions at retail stores of major apparel brands and at Cambodian embassies in the UK, Europe, Australia, the US and Canada.
