Join Workers United Canada and the Maquila Solidarity Network for a rally taking place in Toronto on April 24th outside The Children’s Place at the corner King St. W. and York St. from 12:00 – 1:30 pm. Help us hold Children’s Place accountable. Please invite your friends and colleagues. April 24th marks the one year anniversary of the deadliest apparel industry disaster in history. Survivors and families of the over 1,100 victims of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh will be joining labour rights and unions across Asia, Europe and North America to commemorate this tragic event and to demand that companies whose clothes were made in Rana Plaza sign on to the legally-binding Bangladesh Fire and Safety Accord and contribute to the Rana Plaza Trust Fund set up to provide compensation to victims and families. Children’s Place, whose clothing was found amidst the rubble, is among the many companies that have failed to provide adequate compensation to victim’s families and survivors. Labour rights groups in the United States and Canada are organizing actions outside Children’s Place stores across North America to demand that they contribute the $US8 million that they owe to the Fund.
