Solidarity with network partners - 2012 Highlights
June 27, 2013
MSN promotes solidarity with human rights defenders who are under attack for supporting workers in garment and other global supply chains as they struggle to win improved wages and working conditions.
Some 2012 highlights:
- MSN successfully lobbied companies and the Canadian government to pressure the Bangladeshi government for an investigation into the murder of labour rights defender Aminul Islam (pictured right), whose organizing work with the Bangladesh Garment and Industrial Workers Federation (BGIWF) led to his murder in 2012.
- MSN supported our partners at the Worker Assistance Centre (CAT) in Puebla, Mexico when they were forced to close their office due to continuing violence and death threats in retaliation for their providing advice and support to maquila workers attempting to form independent unions.
