WELCOME TO THE ARCHIVE (1994-2014) OF THE MAQUILA SOLIDARITY NETWORK. The Netherlands-based Fair Wear Foundation brings together NGOs, trade unions, retailers and apparel manufacturers to implement an agreed code of labour practice. The Foundation independently verifies conditions within company supply chains using external monitors.
The Fair Wear Charter includes strong provisions on freedom of association, hours of work, and a living wage.
The Foundation has a worker and third-party complaints mechanism to address problems in a member company's supply chain. FWF also works closely with local NGOs, worker organizations and labour inspectorates in the countries where their members manufacture products.
FWF publishes aggregate audit results from their member companies on an annual basis, but does not identify factories or publish factory-specific results.
